Team registration
Team registration requires payment by credit card at the time of registration. Smokin' on the Rio no longer accepts "mail-in" registration forms. If you need assistance registering, please contact us at 956-202-2320.
- Early registration: $250 / team + jackpots @ $50 each
- Late registration (after the cutoff): $300 / team + jackpots @ $50 each
This event is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) and all applicable rules and policies apply in addition to local event requirements.
Categories
Four main meats qualify for IBCA points and cash awards:
- Brisket
- Pork Spare Ribs
- Chicken
- Fajitas (no IBCA points, but cash award eligible)
Jackpots ($50 each)
- Beans
- Pan De Campo
- Carne Guisada
- Chorizo (entered at the Head Cooks' Meeting)
Campsite info
- Each team is provided a 40' × 40' campsite.
- Electricity and water are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring plenty of extension cords and water hoses. No guarantee on amperage/load.
- Propane burners can only be used for cooking beans.
- Multiple pits are allowed as long as you do not exceed the space provided.
- Generators are allowed, but your campsite will be placed away from other teams and the public.
- No ice or alcohol allowed in. Ice and beer will be sold to cooking teams at a discounted price.
- No pets, golf carts, or ATVs allowed on the grounds.
Gate hours
- Friday: gates closed to team vehicles 6:30 PM – 12:00 AM.
- Saturday: gates open for team vehicles 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM.
- Saturday: gates closed to all vehicles 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
Concert tickets are not included in team registration and must be purchased separately.
